White Stripes $18K Record

(Gibson) A copy of the White Stripes' second single, "Lafayette Blues," sold last week for $18,000, according to Consequence of Sound. Although the single had a wide release in 1998, only 15 copies were hand-painted by singer-guitarist Jack White and his then-label boss David Buick. This particular record was painted by Buick. It's likely that a White-painted copy would go for much more. - more on this story
