(hennemusic) Monster Magnet return with "Mastermind," their first new album in three years. Magnet have a new home – Napalm Records – and are psyched about the new music. "It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock," says Magnet leader Dave Wyndorf about "Mastermind." "The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads, trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven." Set for release on October 26, "Mastermind" is the band's eight studio album, and it's chock full of sounds, imagery and the imagination of Wyndorf. "Well, the lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century," he says. "Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality.
