Al Pacino Will Reportedly Play Phil Spector

(Gibson) The Guardian reports that Al Pacino is to play the role of notorious record producer Phil Spector. HBO is reported to be producing a movie on Spector's life with Rain Man director Barry Levinson and writer David Mamet.Phil Spector is responsible for some of the biggest hits of the '60s including The Ronettes' "Be My Baby" and the Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin" and for developing the so-called "wall of sound." He produced The Beatles' Let it Be album and worked with John Lennon and George Harrison on solo projects. In 1989, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a non-performer. He's currently serving a 19 years-to-life sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. Pacino's agent, John L. Burnham, told the New York Times that his client is very interested in the role: "He just saw a very interesting character to play, and he likes the sensibility of David and Barry." -
