Cat Power A One Woman Show
10/05/2010

(Gibson) Indie rock star Cat Power (otherwise known as Chan Marshall) is working on the follow-up to 2008's Jukebox, and she's got some big changes planned. Taking a page from Prince's book, the smoky-voiced singer said she will play all the instruments on the album."I'm trying to play all the instruments myself," she told RollingStone.com. "There's an inspiration in being furious that you want to achieve your goals. I think I was inspired by being disappointed in myself that I'd just been holding the microphone and I was disappointed in myself that I hadn't been playing an instrument." On recent tours, Marshall has been the frontwoman for her Dirty Delta Blues backing band. "I wanted to prove to myself that I could try to create a relationship with [an instrument] again and feel like I felt close to it," she said. "It's definitely there and it's a need [for me to play], but it hasn't been around." -
