Devo To Receive Moog Honor

10/01/2010
.
(Gibson) Devo have been selected to receive the first-ever Moog Innovation Award. The pioneering New Wave band will be presented with the honor during the upcoming Moogfest 2010, which will be staged in Asheville, N.C. on October 29-31. In conjunction with their selection, the group will receive "a very special synthesizer, details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks," reports Moog Music.

Recipients of the previously-titled Moog Award include Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer, and Bernie Worrell. Moog Music spokesperson Emmy Parker issued the following statement:

"The first recipient of the Moog Innovation Award is Devo and we feel that they are a perfect representation of innovative sound-sculpting and genre-defying electronic music. Like Bob Moog, Devo enthusiastically charted their own course and thus dramatically affected pop culture because of it. Not to mention the fact that they used Moog instruments to create their inimitable sound." - more on this story
