The Eagles' Joe Walsh Wants To School Politicians About Addiction
11/02/2010
.
(Gibson) The Eagles' Joe Walsh has always been a refreshingly candid rock star, and one of the things he's been quite candid about is his battles with rock star indulgences. After struggling with alcoholism and drug abuse through a good part of career, Walsh says he's now been clean and sober for 17 years and has a perspective on the issue of addiction that might be helpful not just to other individuals in the same struggle, but to some government officials making drug policies. In a recent interview with the Australian newspaper The Herald Sun, Walsh said, "I'd love to speak to leaders and politicians in Melbourne and around Australia about addiction. Addiction is a disease and, with help, people can get back to being responsible members of the community. I hope to give your leaders that message." Walsh may soon get that chance since the Eagles have just completed the North American leg of a world tour and will head to Australia in December. -
