Carney released their debut album, Mr. Green Volume 1, last week on DAS Label/Interscope. In support of that release, they are hitting the road with Athlete this summer.According to a press announcement: There are very few 26 year old musicians out right now who can play at their level and it will take you seeing them once to understand instantly that these guys have more in common with Zeppelin and the Doors than they do with the current scene of their peers. They regularly sell out the Troubador and the El Rey in LA and they destroyed at SXSW this year.
Named one of the hottest bands at Lollapalooza by Spin, Carney has also won over crowds at Bonnaroo, San Diego Street Scene and Outside Lands Festival, with Entertainment Weekly naming Reeve Carney (lead vocals/ guitar) "One of the 10 Rising Stars to watch in 2010."
In addition to band frontman duties, Reeve's extracurricular activities include playing the role of Peter Parker/Spiderman in the upcoming Julie Taymor-directed Broadway production of "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark", featuring music written by Bono and The Edge. "An amazing voice and a truly charismatic presence," says Bono of Reeve.
