The Villains Head To Rock Ridge

The Villains have just announced that they have signed with New Jersey based independent label Rock Ridge Music. The label will re-release The Villains' debut with an added bonus track, and the new version, Just Another Saturday Night, is tentatively set for a June 2010 release. "They are hard-working and focused, that to me is The Villains," said Tom Derr, CEO of Rock Ridge Music. "The band fits perfectly into the Rock Ridge roster of artists, and this joining of forces is just the beginning of a long-term, mutually successful undertaking." Of course, this works both ways. Dan Call, one of the principle singers and songwriters for The Villains, is equally thrilled for the next step in the band's musical journey. "The Villains are thrilled and honored to be part of the Rock Ridge family," he said. "They're a great label and we look forward to the future with them." And while many bands today try and come up with a gimmick or crazy angle to sell their music and to make themselves apparent to the masses, The Villains simply make great musicmusic that will remind you of a time when FM radio play helped break bands and arena tours helped to develop those acts. You may have heard this all before, but you surely haven't heard a band having as much fun making great music as The Villains in a long time. Their music weaves a seamless backdrop of rock, pop and country that speaks to the soul, and is fun and reflective as well. The six members (Magno, Dan Call, Sean McNally, Michael Wilkes, Jimmy James Schmitt, and Alan Schaefer) have recorded and performed with many mainstream and indie artists from Nashville to New York, as well as touring the world together and individually. And what started as a recording project for Magno, Dan, Sean, and Mike after three years on the road with Nashville recording artist Keni Thomas (opening for the likes of Dwight Yoakum, Montgomery Gentry, and Trace Atkins) quickly turned into their debut album. The idea was to bring in two more friends and co-writers, Jimmy and Alan, to round out the bandand in the spirit of classic acts such as The Band, The Eagles, Wings, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Fleetwood Mac, this blend of different singers and styles solidified the sound rather than compromising it. The Villains were born. In addition, three of the songs on The Villains' debut were written with guitarist Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow, Don Henley) and features Stroud on guitar as well. The album was recorded by Chris Griffin (Live, Drivin N Cryin) and mixed by Chris and Russ Fowler (Stone Temple Pilots, Offspring) at Griffin Mastering Studios in Atlanta. The Villains hope you'll kick back, have a beer, and enjoy their music, which they describe as a true labor of love between friends. They look forward to hitting the road and coming to your town to share their music with you.
