Muse have broken yet another record. Last year, the band's single "Uprising" remained at No. 1 for 19 consecutive weeks on Mediabase's Alternative Rock chart — breaking a record for the longest run at No. 1 in the history of the chart. Now with their new single, "Resistance," leaping from No. 6 to the No. 1 position on the Mediabase chart, and "Uprising" holding fast at No. 3, Muse become the first artist ever to have two songs in the Top Three on both the Mediabase and BDS Alternative Rock charts in the same week.
Both tracks are from Muse's current album The Resistance, the British rock trio's fifth studio album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Alternative, Rock, and Internet album charts and earned the band their highest-ever debut on the Billboard album chart by bowing at No. 3.
An international smash, The Resistance also notched 20 No. 1 debuts around the world, including Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and the U.K.
The Resistance was produced by Muse and mixed by famed audio engineer Mark 'Spike' Stent. The band, which is vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dom Howard, are currently in the middle of a spring North American tour.
