Hollywood Record's newest signing Alpha Rev chose their hometown of Austin, TX to film their first video for "New Morning," the premiere single and title track from their upcoming Hollywood Records debut CD. At the helm, Mark Pellington, acclaimed director of films like Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies, as well as memorable music videos for artists like Bruce Springsteen, U2, Pearl Jam and The Foo Fighters.
Though Pellington rarely accepts music video assignments, the director says he was deeply inspired by the intensity of Alpha Rev's music and lobbied to work with the band. Alpha Rev is also excited to announce SXSW performances March 17 (KGSR showcase at the Four Seasons @ 7:30AM) and March 18 (101 X Showcase at Dirty Dog Bar @ 11 PM).
Led by singer and lyricist Casey McPherson, Alpha Rev makes its major label album debut with New Morning, which was produced by David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Sublime, The Strokes) and will arrive in stores and at online retailers on April 20. Composed of McPherson, along with Derek Dunivan (guitar), Tommy Roalson (drums), Dave Wiley (cello), Alex Dunlap (bass), Brian Batch (violin) and Derek Morris (keyboards), Alpha Rev formed in 2005 and their songs have been featured in various television series including Melrose Place and Bravo's NYC Prep. The band itself will make a guest appearance on ABC Family's hit series Greek on March 15 performing two songs from the New Morning CD and just this week, Alpha Rev was confirmed for a VH1 "You Oughta Know" profile feature.
