Singled Out: Social Code

03/02/2010
.
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Social Code frontman Travis Nesbitt tells us about " Satisfied" from their brand new album, "Rock 'n' Roll," which hits stores on March 23rd (but you can get this song now!). We now turn it over to Travis for the story:

I guess the basic inspiration came from years and years of playing in a band. You meet all kinds of great and interesting people from all walks of life. You meet the guy in the bar that loves the band and wants to sing you his song he wrote in his room the other night. He sings a few verses and chorus' only to stop and ask you what you think about it. "Do you think I have what it takes?" he asks. You meet the nervous girl that asks to take a picture with her and everyone. After we all get arm-in-arm with our best "cheeeese" smiles on our faces, the equally nervous friend sheepishly says, "oops, the batteries are dead." A bit anti-climatic, but good times nonetheless. You meet the people who want to come on the bus just to be on the bus and drink everything in sight, or the ones that want nothing more to come back stage only to see 5 guys sitting on their laptops. Hey, you can't party every night! You meet lots of people that want to be close to you to share their love of Rock 'N' Roll the best way they know how. That's the greatest thing about music, everyone sees it from a different perspective. Everyone has different eyes and different motives. Like meeting the girl that breaks all the traditional rules of engagement, the one that ignores the "I'll shoot you eyes from across the room--you come and offer to buy me a drink" standard pick-up approach. She's the one that wants to get with the band so much it doesn't matter whether you're the guitar player, drummer or driver of the bus. She's that one gorgeous girl in the room that's a bit slutty and trashy, but somehow gets away without looking like a trashy slut, if that's even possible. That's simply what "Satisfied" is about. A simple rock song about a girl that knows just how to get what she wants. We really focused this record to be simple and honest. Not writing about things we think people wanna hear, but rather about things that we wanted to write. Reality. Who we are. Although "Satisfied" is who we are, for some of us in the band more than others, it is a part of Rock 'N' Roll. It has always been a part of Rock 'N' Roll and will always be a part of Rock 'N' Roll. I could go on and on trying to fill this page with inner meanings and metaphors, but that's not what this song is about. The song is written from the perspective of a rock band about Rock 'N' Roll and that's what we love. Long live it!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
