Eminem has moved up the release date for his new album Recovery to Monday, June 21, 2010, according to Interscope Records. "We believe fans want to support their favorite artists by purchasing the real album and not a leaked version," said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M.
"At the same time, we realize speed is of the essence when fans are so passionate about wanting to hear new songs from such an enormously popular artist like Eminem. Even by releasing Recovery only a day earlier than previously announced, it makes a difference to those fans--and doesn't mess too much with our marketing, promotion, publicity and sales plans for the debut of a truly great album."
Eminem's seventh major label studio album, Recovery includes the single "Not Afraid," which debuted #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April (his third career #1 single). The album also features guest appearances by Lil Wayne ('No Love'), Rihanna ('Love the Way You Lie') and P!NK ('Won't Back down'). For Eminem, the biggest selling artist of the 2000s, Recovery kicks off the 2010s by following last year's Relapse, the #1-charting winner of the Best Rap Album Grammy and the best selling rap album of 2009. Eminem has sold more than 80,000,000 albums worldwide and won 11 Grammy Awards.
