Drake has announced his "Thank Me Later" Competition which offers up-and-coming Hip-Hop and R&B artists the opportunity to perform at Drake's first annual O.V.O. Festival. "I truly believe this is entertainment at a level that the city has never seen before," says Drake. "I'm hoping that it is a safe and magical night and that O.V.O Festival becomes tradition every year. It's huge that [corporate sponsor name removed] and OurStage are helping me to give back by giving someone else a leg up in the music business and a chance to perform in a city that is so important to me."
The O.V.O. Festival, which featuring performances by Young Jeezy, Bun B and Francis & The Lights will take place during North America's largest street fest, the 43rd annual Caribana Toronto Festival, in Drake's hometown of Toronto.
The winning artist will be flown to perform in front of more than 15,000 fans at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on August 1st.
Those who want to be part of the show, but lack the necessary vocal chops, can compete in the Drake "Thank Me Later" Backstage Correspondent Competition to be named O.V.O.'s "Backstage Correspondent" and report on the festival's exclusive action.
Artists can enter the competition through midnight on July 22, 2010, by submitting an original track to http://www.ourstage.com/go/thankmelater. Potential backstage correspondents should upload a 30 second to 3 minute video answering the question, "Why would I make the best backstage correspondent for the Drake concert at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto?" Correspondents will be chosen via the OurStage casting program, where fans will select the best reporters based on the criteria of video audition, personality and charisma.
