J Records have set an August 10th release date for Mike Posner's debut album 31 Minutes to Takeoff. Say Posner on the album title, "Something happens 31 minutes into the record. You're going to have to listen to find out what it is. All I can say is that both the listener and I will be in a higher place when it's over."
Posner co-wrote and co-produced every track on the album, which features collaborations from Benny Blanco (Ke$ha, 3Oh!3), Boys II Men, Smeezingtons (B.O.B), and Travis Barker.
His explosive first single "Cooler Than Me" is conquering nearly every chart available
currently sitting at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, #6 on the Digital Songs Chart, #4 on the iTunes Top Songs Chart and soaring in the Top 10 at both Top 40 and Rhythm formats..
In March of 2009, Posner's first mixtape A Matter of Time (recorded in his dorm room) rose to the #1 position on iTunesU, promptly garnering him the attention of major labels. After signing a deal with J Records that summer, Posner returned to Duke to finish up his course load, all the while beginning work on his debut album, self-releasing his second free mixtape One Foot Out The Door (featuring collaborations with 3Oh!3, Bun B, Kid Cudi, Wale) through iTunesU and rocking shows every weekend at colleges and festivals across the country.
In October 2009, Posner joined 50 Cent at This Is 50 Fest on Governor's Island in NYC, followed by an Austin City Limits performance and a sold out show at NYC's SOB's as part of CMJ. Posner played multiple shows during SXSW, including a featured slot at Perez Hilton's "One Night in Austin" sold out party, spent a few dates on the road with Drake, was declared one of Spin.com's "11 Best Moments of Bamboozle" and rocked the finale night of Bonnaroo along with his own sold out headlining gig at The Key Club.
Posner performed on Last Call With Carson Daly in October 2009 and Lopez Tonight in May 2010. He has graced the cover of URB magazine, landed in Entertainment Weekly's "The Bullseye" and been featured in Vibe, XXL, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, RollingStone.com, Spin.com, New York Post, and countless other publications.
