On February 23, indie rock band The Fletchers, will self-release the anticipated follow up to the 2008 debut Bright Blue Lights. Lights Out Loud, which has been topping the CMJ Charts at WRSU-FM Rutgers for three consecutive weeks, is the sophomore effort of the NJ-based four-piece founded by Gary Kaplan of 90s buzz-bands Rotator Cuff and Dandelion Fire. WRSU Music Director Lisa Uber said, “The Fletchers 2008 release was an instant hit at 88.7 WRSU FM. Their follow-up followed a similar path, debuting at #1 on our CMJ charts and has continued to be a DJ favorite. Gary has a long history in the local area and at WRSU, and if this recent success is any indicator, The Fletchers’ ‘Lights Out Loud’ will surely catch the attention of music fans in the rest of the country and abroad.”
Lights Out Loud features ten original songs written by Kaplan, including the breakout single “Beaches.” With his raspy vocal style, likened to Hüsker Dü/Sugar frontman Bob Mould, and fuzz-laden lead guitar, Kaplan delivers infectious indie pop influenced by Britpop and American Indie acts like XTC, Parklife-era Blur and REM, and even 60sinvasion acts like The Kinks. In addition to Kaplan, The Fletchers are Dan Coffey (bass and backing vocals), Cliff Heaton (drums) and Rob Freda (guitar).
The album will be available digitally through all major online music outlets, including iTunes, AmazonMP3, eMusic and Rhapsody. Check out www.thefletchersmusic.com for more information.
