Like Trains & Taxis combines a modern indie sensibility with traditional notions of songwriting, and a sound that evokes both the soul of Stevie Wonder and the off-beat nuanced approach of artists like Ben Folds or Fiona Apple. When Bob Dylan said in a recent interview "there aren't enough guys or gals writing good songs anymore," he unknowingly put his finger on exactly what Like Trains & Taxis is battling in their forthcoming album. Instead of relying on cutting-edge production gimmicks and laptop panache, Like Trains & Taxis' philosophy is to shift the focus from modern day tricks, and place it back onto the quality of songwriting. Like Trains & Taxis creates music that has an ability to move the listener without superficial aesthetics, relying only on the strength of the songwriting itself.

While the band espouses this somewhat traditionalist view of music, the album they have created is far from trite or traditional.
