The alt-rockers have performed only a handful of times since coming together as Bad Books.

The band will be playing the Troubadour in Los Angeles on January 15th and Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on January 16th.

The genesis of Bad Books came from a simple idea to fill space and time off the road by collaborating on a small batch of songs together at the end of 2009. With no agenda or expectations, what was birthed just one week later was Bad Books (the band and album), a fully realized album encompassing five compositions each from Devine and Hull, with members of Manchester Orchestra filling out the sound of the band.

Engineered by Robert McDowell of Manchester Orchestra with help from drummer Ben Homola, and mixed by Chris Bracco of Devine's 'Goddamn Band', Bad Books progressed in the most organic and natural way possible. Free from any boundaries or restrictions, Devine and Hull were able to craft a beautiful body of melodies, utilizing the stark imagery and storytelling for which both of them are known. The following success, with sold out shows in New York at CMJ as well as press raves and accolades was further a surprise to this band's natural growth.
