Mike Portnoy Tried To Rejoin Dream Theater

(Rock AAA) Avenged Sevenfold have explained why Mike Portnoy could not remain with the band into 2011 and they say the drummer agrees with their sentiments. Last week the ex-Dream Theater man announced he'd been dismissed from the band he's been standing in with since their sticksman, Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, died last Christmas. "We're not ready to add a permanent member – and we don't know if we'll ever be.... Mike and the band agree it can't be him." Meanwhile, Portnoy has revealed he tried to rejoin Dream Theater soon after he'd quit – but the band said no via their legal counsel. more on this story
