Joey Stuckey Sets New Album Release

12/13/2010
.
Joey Stuckey will release his new album, The Shadow Sound, on December 26th. The album promises to deliver a penetrating mix of blues, rock, pop and jazz, bringing back to the forefront a time when it was the music that really mattered.

"I was truly blown away by his guitar and songwriting versatility" - mentions Victor McLean, founder of Virtuoso Music - recalling the first time he heard Joey.

"To me, he will be an inspiration to the many kids out there picking up a guitar for the first time, and also to music fanatics who are searching for something unique. We feel that Joey will have a Phish or a Dave Matthews type following when you consider his material and the caliber of performance that he is capable of delivering."

McLean has 20 years experience in the music industry, having served as National Promotions Director with Verve Music Group in addition to facilitating the releases of urban and jazz artists with Warner/Elektra/Atlantic, Universal Music & Video Distribution and Navarre Distribution. Victor has worked the music of such internationally acclaimed artists as George Benson, Quincy Jones, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Al Jarreau, Joe Sample, David Sanborn, Wayne Shorter, Chris Botti, Diana Krall, Steely Dan, McCoy Tyner and many others. Other artists on the Virtuoso roster include jazz legend Stanley Clarke's Roxbury Entertainment Group and actor/blues guitarist Steven Segal.

The Shadow Sound creates an eclectic blend of musical influences spearheaded by Stuckey's guitar and vocal prowess. Blues fans will no doubt identify with Runnin' ("Cuz your kind, are a dime a dozen, And I've had my fill") while rock aficionados will take a liking to the guitar-driven Take a Walk in the Shadows and Mr. Mooney. Even those who prefer a touch a pop will appreciate the memorable Bad Dreams and So Blue which features keyboardist/saxophonist Randall Bramblett of Traffic (Steve Winwood) and Sea Level (Chuck Leavell). David Ragsdale, violinist of Smashing Pumpkins and Kansas is also featured on the album.

"Joey is by far one of the most talented musicians I've ever played with" - mentions Hugh Hession, Stuckey's keyboardist, co-producer and assistant engineer – "and I've shared the stage with some of the best. People often refer to him as a real-life guitar hero, not only because he's a great player, but he's the real deal…as genuine as a person can be."

With no sight or sense of smell (the result of a brain tumor as an infant), Joey refused to acknowledge the word "disability." He graduated high school at age 14 and went on to study guitar from renowned guitarists Terry Cantwell, Steven Crowell and Stanley Jordan. His playing style developed into that of rocker Jeff Beck and a jazzier Wes Montgomery, while his vocal influences range from Mel Torme to Gregg Allman. The late music impresario Ian Copeland, founder of Frontier Booking International (FBI) and brother of The Police's Stewart Copeland once said that Joey was one of the best guitarists around.
