Calibro 35 have announced the December 14th release of Rare, a collection of songs that were spread across different releases during the last three years: soundtracks, b-sides, deluxe editions, alternate and extended versions and it also includes some unreleased recordings. Some of the material is from Calibro 35's first ever recording session when they decided to cover Ennio Morricone tracks like "Trafelato," Summertime
Killer," and "Notte in Bovisa."
Other tracks include originals and covers of obscure themes of various vintage soundtracks that are reinterpreted and rearranged by Calibro 35, adding their special touch of funk, rock and psychedelia.
Band leader Tommaso Colliva describes the process that created RARE: Some songs are from our first session ever. We wanted to have a raw '60s sound, drums have been recorded with just two microphones and the guitar is passing through a over saturated tube preamplifier. Musically speaking they are also pretty different from what we had done before. Since the very beginning Calibro 35 gave us the opportunity to bypass the usual writing/recording/touring routine that bands usually have. This allowed us to never stop creating and recording music therefore to evolve our style quite naturally.
Our first record included mostly vintage soundtrack re-arrangements. We then started experimenting writing our own music and this led us to be involved in several soundtracks and compilations. Ritornano Quelli Di... which is our U.S. debut release has only four covers, the rest are originals from the band. Nowadays the band is touring on a very busy schedule bringing Italian soundtracks worldwide.
