Some Hear Explosions and Lights Over Paris Tour

08/30/2010
.
Some Hear Explosions are hitting the road with Lights Over Paris in support of their debut album It's Our Time Now.

Some Hear Explosions is the collective team of ex-The Mercy Kiss guitarist/vocalist Bay Dariz and singer Ambre Leigh along with the combined rhythm section of Alex Gallner on bass and Joe Herrera on drums,

It's Our Time Now is continually gaining a footing amongst modern rock fans. The band was started when Dariz asked Leigh to write a song with him, knowing that she had never done so before and that she hadn't sung publicly since she was a child.

The resulting song "It's Our Time Now" convinced the two to continue and after several months of writing, the one-time experiment became a full-fledged band. "I had no preconceived notions," Dariz says. "When we wrote the first song, I didn't even know if we were going to be a band. I just wanted to write a song with Ambre. There wasn't some grand plan. Once we had a few songs, I realized it sounded like nothing I'd ever done before. Not only was I pushing myself in different musical directions, but Ambre and I have very different tastes in music. Where our sensibilities converge is what we sound like." Dariz's favorites include Bowie, Queen, Smashing Pumpkins, Remy Zero, and Bright Eyes. Leigh's choice playlist would include IAMX, The Kills, Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley, and No Doubt.

The songs featured on their debut album vary from the call-to-arms opening track "Explode", to the dark electro/pop kiss-off "Baby Won't You (kiss my lips)", to the gorgeous ballad "Amazing". What manages to tie these songs together are Leigh's unmistakable voice and melodies, which perfectly compliment her lyrics of personal struggle and sexual empowerment. Songs like "Hell A" and "Too Forgiving" chronicle the challenges of moving to Los Angeles and trying to succeed in life and in love.
