(PR) MySpace Music today announced the official launch of Introducing..., the company's new marquee music program designed to allow the discovery, and championing of new artists through a series of specially tailored online and offline promotional opportunities. Introducing... leverages the breadth and depth of the MySpace Music platform through a variety of exclusive content premieres aimed at increasing community awareness and engagement surrounding these artists while encouraging artist participation and self evangelism. "The next hit records are already on MySpace- they just aren't hits yet," Said Courtney Holt, President of MySpace Music. "When you think about all of the artists who have successfully used MySpace as a career launch pad it's not hard to imagine that had this program launched a couple years ago participating artists may have included Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy or Drake." Introducing... presents new artists to the MySpace Music audience through key content features including album, single and video premieres, featured playlists, behind the scenes footage, "getting to know you" interviews and much more helping to create and build a loyal fan base within the community. Through this 12 week promotional and editorial program MySpace Music will be able to create pre-release activity, concentrated release day media and sustained post-release momentum for all participating Introducing...artists. The program soft launched back in September with an aggressive online promotional campaign surrounding up and coming artist LIGHTS- a keytar-wielding singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who crafts sparkling, otherworldly synth-pop that she calls "inter-galactic electro." She has already made a splash in her native Canada; she has a #1 hit on MuchMusic and the 2009 JUNO for New Artist of the Year under her belt. Her debut full-length release, entitled The Listening, was just released on Warner Bros Records. "Myspace was the initial launching grounds for my music," said LIGHTS. "It started as an interface from which I could get myself organized, then became an ever growing stage for people to discover what I was putting up there. To this day my Myspace page is one of the main places I send new listeners." Introducing... officially kicks off today with inaugural artists Sherwood, We the Kings, Kid Sister and Serena Ryder. Sherwood has rapidly gained a reputation as a band that makes things happen for themselves. The band's debut album A Different Light has received critical acclaim and has sold more than 40,000 copies with well over 120,000 track scans. Serena Ryder has already left an indelible impression in Canada, where she took home the 2008 Juno Award for Best New Artist and 2009 Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year. is it o.k is her full length debut for Atlantic Records, available everywhere November 3rd. On is it o.k, Ryder paints a self-portrait that's both bitter in betrayal and teasingly romantic. Kid Sister is a highly anticipated new artist known for her genre-defining Electronic hip hop and her unique mixture of adorable feminism combined with edgy Chicago swagger supported by witty lyrics and unique beats that appeals to fans of Lady Gaga, Fergie, Kanye West, Old School Hip Hop and Dance Music . We The Kings gained popularity with a strong online fanbase, proven by more than 55 million plays of their songs on MySpace. Fans tune in regularly to see "The King's Carriage," a series of comedic webisodes created by this pop/rock band from Brandenton, FL. Their sophomore album, Smile Kid, will be available online and in stores on December 8th.
