DJ Dan Joins Nettwerk and Remixes Lady Gaga

10/15/2009
.
(Nettwerk) DJ Dan has been on the cutting edge of forward thinking dance tracks for nearly two decades. As he approaches his 20th year in the music industry, he joins Nettwerk to release his debut artist album FUTURE RETRO, a collection comprised of two vantage points: one looking back and paying homage to where electronic music has come from, and one looking to the future of where electronic music is going. It's a culmination of all things great on the dance floor, fusing classic dance tracks with Dan's unique blend of funky driving electro…a musical journey that spans the past, present, and looks to the future, from Mr. Fingers to Phuture to Frankie Knuckles.

Future Retro will be out in 2010, but in the meantime, Dan will release a series of EPs entitled DJ Dan Presents Future Retro: Evolution. Each EP will contain one "future" single and one "retro" single, along with remixes. The first of these, Evolution 1, is available exclusively through Beatport on November 3 and on all other digital service providers on November 17. The "future" single is a brand new original track from Dan called "Drop Hits," and the "retro" single is a cover of Mr. Fingers classic dance track "Can You Feel It?". The EP will also include remixes from Santiago & Bushido and Zodiac Cartel.

Dan worked with good friend and internationally renowned House Music producer/DJ Hatiras on "Drop Hits" to combine different elements of dance music--hip hop vocal hooks, Electro House sounds and the new form of techno--to bring something fresh to the table.

"Can You Feel It" was originally produced by Mr. Fingers (aka Larry Heard) in 1987, and served as a major inspiration for Dan. With the vocals focusing on "Jack," the keeper of house music, and the power of house music to bring all nations and races together under one house, "Can You Feel It" was the ultimate testament to House Music, declaring it as a new form of dance music. Dan enlisted the talents of up and coming Hamburg-based artist FUKKK OFFF to help give the classic track a modern twist--a heavier banging electro vibe for the new generation of House Music lovers--while keeping the deep and groovy essence of the original in tact.

In addition to his own projects, DJ Dan has done remixes for such artists as Depeche Mode, The Pussycat Dolls, A Tribe Called Quest, and many more. Most recently, Dan was asked to remix Lady Gaga's latest hit single "Paparazzi," out soon on Interscope. Dan has also just completed a remix for Janet Jackson's newest single "Make Me," which will be available soon.
