(PR) Having already conquered their Scandinavian homeland, Danish electro-rock fivesome Spleen United are heading to the States for a series of shows timed with the release of first single, "Suburbia," on October 13. The propulsive track, built over a simple synth line and hypnotic dance beat, has already begun to receive early support at radio, including influential tastemaker Jason Bentley on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic," as well as others. This single and forthcoming full-length, Neanderthal, due in January, will be released on producer Michael Patterson's (She Wants Revenge, Beck, BRMC) founded label, popantipop records. The band will introduce America to their electrifying sound at a handful of shows in Los Angeles starting October 13 before heading to New York for CMJ.
Spleen United (a nod to French modernist poet Baudelaire) comes to these shores decorated with a slew of Danish music awards and #1 hits. With a live show that is simply explosive, as witnessed by more than 50,000 fans at last year's Roskilde Festival (Denmark's premiere annual festival), the Danes color their performances with pulsating lights and a booming sound that is equally at home in rock venues, dance clubs or arenas. Subbing guitar and bass for synthesizers, Spleen inject a bounce into their melodious rock songs, which occasionally veer into atmospheric grooves before climaxing in a burst of raw energy magnified tenfold on stage.
With a powerful live show and a singular sound, it's easy to see why NME described the band's music as "rich, chunky electro-rock that leaves you feeling woozy and strangely satisfied" while LA's trendsetting BuzzBands.LA proclaimed: "the barrage of beats and sequencer scribbles will make your inner computer swoon."
