(PR) If you had asked the members of Blackberry Smoke which other band's audience would be most receptive to their unique brand of Outlaw Country and Rock, there's no doubt that the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd would have been the answer. Now, with the announcement of seven shows supporting Skynyrd, Blackberry Smoke is going to get the opportunity to play for the seminal Southern Rock icons' loyal audience.
"It's such a great honor to be playing dates with our heroes, Lynyrd Skynyrd," says the band's Brit Turner. "It's gonna be a travelling southern rock revival in every town."
The announcement of Blackberry Smoke's dates with Skynyrd comes on the heels of the release of the band's new album, Little Piece Of Dixie, on BamaJam Records this past Tuesday (9/29). BamaJam Records is the newly formed imprint of Stroudavarious Records, the label started in mid-2008 by legendary Nashville musician, producer and executive James Stroud. BamaJam and Stroudavarious Records are distributed by Sony Music's RED Distribution.
Produced by Dann Huff and Justin Niebank, Little Piece Of Dixie is already earning Blackberry Smoke praise from the critics. Wildy's World lofted hefty praise on the record, saying "This might just be the best pure rock 'n' roll album of the year." Twang Nation pointed to the album's "Southern-fried rock goodness" while Paste Magazine noted that "The ghost of Ronnie Van Zant must be smiling."
Blackberry Smoke is currently on tour in the United States to promote Little Piece Of Dixie. The band will then make their first trip to Europe in December before joining Lynyrd Skynyrd again January 21-25 for the band's annual Simple Man cruise.
