(PR) Up and coming Portland-based sextet Quoting Napoleon will be releasing their sophomore album, Absence, on Oct 20, 2009. A CD release party will be held at McMenamins White Eagle Saloon on Friday Oct. 23, 2009 [We assume that is in Portland]. A single, "Edward Dunn" from this new album, Absence, recently debuted on the KINK.FM Local Music Spotlight. Dean Kattari, APD/MD/KINK.FM said "I think the new album is very good, it was hard to pick just one song for airplay. That's a good problem!"
The single, "Low is Under", from the band's first album Rise and Fall, has also been featured on the KINK.FM local music spotlight and was included on this year's KINK.FM Plug In Portland CD. To promote that CD, the band also played on the KINK.FM CarToys/Aftershock stage at the Oregon State Fair.
Quoting Napoleon wrote, recorded and self-produced this full-length CD that strongly identifies with contemporaries including Crowded House, Counting Crows and Marc Broussard. Like Broussard, lead singer John Salazar's full-bodied voice evokes older R&B influences like Al Green and Marvin Gaye.
"This time around we wanted to push the music further. We've created more elaborate arrangements than on the first album and incorporated a lot of new sounds including keyboards. The goal for the music remains much the same: heartfelt lyrics, thoughtful arrangements and passionate performances that audiences love," commented Salazar.
Quoting Napoleon shows no signs of slowing down and is looking forward to showcasing their live performances to promote Absence into 2010. They will be playing next at The Tonic Lounge on Friday October 2nd.
The CD will be available at the upcoming shows as well as at www.cdbaby.com among other local and online retailers. Quoting Napoleon invites you to preview their music, and sign up for their newsletter at: www.myspace.com/quotingnapoleon and other retailers.
