(Rock Radio) Wrestling star Hulk Hogan tried to audition for Metallica and the Rolling Stones, he says in a new autobiography. The 56-year old explains how he made a living in his college days playing bass in a number of bands. And once he'd made it as a star in the ring, he wanted to be a star on the stage as well.When Metallica bassist Cliff Burton died in a bus crash in 1986 Hogan decided he'd like to fill the gap, and made contact with Lars Ulrich and co. Hogan tells the Chicago Tribune: "When Metallica was looking for a bass player I called – and never heard a word back. I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be the bass player for Metallica."
