Moonalice Add Heavy Hitting Drummer To Their Lineup

(PR) Moonalice have welcomed a new member of their tribe with the addition of drummer John Molo into the band. A Grammy-winning member of Bruce Hornsby's band for nearly 15 years, Molo has also logged kit time with Phil Lesh & Friends, The Other Ones, John Fogerty, Keller Williams and many more. Molo replaces Jim Sanchez, who has left the band for personal reasons but remains a dear friend and member of the Moonalice tribe. "This was meant to be," said Molo. "I was in San Francisco last week and had a premonition that I should call Moonalice. I had no idea they were auditioning drummers, but they were. It's great to be part of the tribe." "John is a fantastic drummer with a deep understanding of American music. He is perfect for Moonalice," said GE Smith, the band's musical director. "We can't wait to get back on the road!!!" The new Moonalice line-up is currently touring in support of the band's debut, self-titled studio album (released April 14th), which was produced by Grammy-winner T-Bone Burnett. The band has some incredible performances coming up, including big summer festivals like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Gathering of the Vibes, Earth Dance and more. The members of Moonalice put on an absolutely spellbinding performance night after night, with epic shows that often run well past the three-hour mark. The all-star band features GE Smith (Saturday Night Live, Bob Dylan, Hall & Oates), Pete Sears (Rod Stewart, Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna), Barry Sless (Phil Lesh and Friends), Roger McNamee (Flying Other Brothers, also Bono's business partner at Elevation), Ann McNamee (Flying Other Brothers, Ann Atomic) and occasional seventh member Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna). Fans who can't get to a show will be able to hear Molo's expert chops supporting Moonalice when the tech-savvy band does its next live Twittercast, where they broadcast live concerts in near real time via Twitter. At select shows, the band's sound team digitizes and uploads each song as it happens, before sending out a "tweet" about its availability-all before the group finishes playing the very next song. Not only did Moonalice invent the live Twittercast, it also created the Zombie Twittercast, in which it broadcasts classic shows from the vault. Just go to twitter.com/moonalice and press the "follow" button. The most recent live Twittercast was on May 8; the next Zombie Twittercast will be this coming Friday. Last week's Zombie Twittercast can be found at http://budurl.com/edwp Moonalice is on the road and plans to stay there for as long as it takes. Meanwhile, the group has released The Moonalice Legend: Posters & Words, Vol. 1, which is now available at the band's online store for $25.00. The eye-catching book includes every poster, legend and set list from the band's first year in a beautifully-produced paperback. At every show, the audience receives a free, limited edition poster, as well as local updates to the Moonalice legend. All posters are four-color offset lithographs, created by San Francisco's finest poster artists.
