Postman Is Coming

06/16/2009
.
(ABC) Postman (a.k.a. performer/producer Remon Stotijn) evolves with each album, and that's definitely the case with his forthcoming album, simply titled Postman, initially being released in key territories in Europe on PIAS, the largest indie label in Continental Europe. It's the follow-up to 2007's GREEN (EMI/Virgin).

A video for the first single, "Kills Me," was recently shot at the Cannes Film Festival, with Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominated actress/director Rosanna Arquette at the director's helm. The clip marks her directorial debut of a music video, and will be ready for servicing to TV and the Internet in the coming weeks. Previously, Arquette directed the critically acclaimed "Searching For Debra Winger" feature film.

The "Kills Me" video had million dollar production value, and was in fact the only production to be given access to Martin Scorsese's red carpet screening of his forthcoming film, "The Red Shoes." With Arquette's profile, and images of Stotijn on the red carpet with Scorsese, Arquette, Eva Longoria and many others beamed throughout the world, this new video is bringing global attention to Stotijn and the new album.

The culmination of an intense and artistically fulfilling period that saw Stotijn relocate to New York, the new album showcases much of the musically inventive style that fans have come to expect from POSTMAN, but Stotijn has added new layers to his already unique brand of music with this new album, which has instantly received rave reviews from fans around the world.

Postman is an uplifting mix of modern hip-hop, vintage soul and pure reggae combined with R&B and blues. The songs are captivating, with lyrics that mostly reflect on Postman's life, along with the distinctive voice of producer/performer Remon Stotijn it creates a world where drama and joy come together. Throughout the last decade the essence of POSTMAN hasn't changed: spreading a contagious, positive vibe combined with a message in the Music.

Postman's critically acclaimed debut album, DOCUMENTS, was certified Platinum in Europe and reached the Top 10 on the Dutch album charts, thanks to the hit singles "Cocktail," "Crisis" and "U Wait." In 2007, Postman's single, "Downhill," won "Best Video of the Year" on TMF, The Music Factory (European MTV).

Besides working on Postman's music, Stotijn did a lot of writing and producing for other major label signed European artists including Anouk, E-Life, Extince, Def Rhymz and Doe Maar. His label, Social Life, was involved with numerous projects with Amnesty International, organizing seminars and workshops at youth prisons and refugee shelters.

In touring news, Postman will be hitting the U.S. concert trail this Fall. Fans in the U.S. will get to witness what many fans in Europe already know, that he's got a solid and energetic live reputation having performed at several renowned stages & festivals in Europe including Pinkpop, Lowlands, Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. The band launches its new tour July 12 at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, along with headliners Seal and Robin Thicke.
