(PR) The Airborne Toxic Event announce a very special performance at The Walt Disney Concert Hall on December 4th, 2009, presented by the LA Philharmonic. The band will be accompanied by special guest, the award-winning Calder Quartet, as well as other surprise guests to be announced. The show is part of the West Coast: Left Coast Festival, a celebration of the music and culture of California.
The Airborne Toxic Event is the only contemporary rock act on the festival's bill, as well as the only band of its kind to be invited to play at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the fall season. The band will be proudly representing their hometown of East LA. Pre-sale tickets are available through www.theairbornetoxicevent.com on Saturday, August 15th; general public tickets will be on sale starting Sunday, August 23rd.
The Walt Disney Concert Hall is the new home to the LA Philharmonic. Designed by the esteemed Frank Gehry, the venue is one of the most acoustically and visually astounding in the world. The 3.6-acre complex embodies the unique, creative energy and spirit of Los Angeles, making it the ideal setting to host both the West Coast: Left Coast Festival and THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT.
This exceptional performance comes at the end of an ambitious world tour for THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT, whose debut album recently cleared the 100k mark for sales in the United States. The album, which features the Top 5 single "Sometime Around Midnight," has topped Billboard's Heatseekers chart three times; the second single "Wishing Well" is currently making its first foray up the modern rock charts. The NME lauded the band 's live show: "Firmly on the right side of dramatic, their engaging stage presence and mawkish violin justifies the Arcade Fire comparisons. There's a beautiful yet deftly macabre spine to their songs, and 'Sometime Around Midnight' is a stirring demonstration of their power. ...if you haven't seen TATE, you should."
