(PR) Fueled By Ramen Records has announced the signing of Flint, Michigan-based band The Swellers. The acclaimed group, known for their merging of melodic hooks and hard-edged punk power, will release their Fueled By Ramen full-length debut album this fall.Fueled By Ramen will first introduce The Swellers to the waiting world with a limited edition 7" single, to be released in conjunction with Paper + Plastick, the new label from Fueled By Ramen co-founder (and Less Than Jake drummer) Vinnie Fiorello.
Available in late July via www.fueledbyramen.com and www.paperandplastick.com, the single will feature two new tracks"Welcome Back Riders," which will also be included on the band's upcoming full-length release, and an exclusive, Bret Hart-inspired b-side entitled "Montreal Screwjob."
"The Swellers are a terrific young band," says Janick, "with all of the excitement and energy that inspired us to first start up Fueled By Ramen. I'm so happy to be working with Vinnie again and his new label, Paper + Plastick."
"When I sat in a packed club in my hometown, I knew The Swellers would catch on," says Fiorello. "Where there's smoke there is fire, right? Playing shows later on with them, then hearing the demos go from ideas to sharp songs, I followed my friends on their ride as a spectator and as a fan. I feel privileged to be releasing their 7" on my new label Paper + Plastick, and it feels like the ride has gone a complete 360 degrees, once again partnering with Fueled By Ramen, the label in which I was co-founder/co-owner. It proves that some people are still paying attention to hard work and hooks. Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you two of your future favorite songs, from your future favorite band, viva The Swellers, Viva Paper + Plastick."
Like so many of their fellow Fueled By Ramen artists, The Swellers have proven themselves to be an aggressive and hard-working live act. The band has been on the road nearly non-stop over the last three years, gaining fans and support from other bands with their reactive music and tireless work ethic. Before signing to Fueled By Ramen, The Swellers were able to cover all of the United States, Eastern Canada and Japan, and tour with the likes of Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, A Wilhelm Scream, and The A.K.A.s, among others.
"After discovering Fueled By Ramen through Less Than Jake, we've been following the label and a lot of their great bands over the years," says The Swellers' drummer Jonathan Diener. "Being on a label that put out a Jimmy Eat World release is just unreal to us. Everyone at Fueled By Ramen has been so supportive. We're going from booking all of our own tours and handling everything ourselves with the help of our one-man record label, to working with a team of dedicated people, each specializing in something awesome. We're excited to be on such a great label, and being a band that sticks out doesn't hurt much either."
Currently touring the country alongside Living With Lions, The Swellers will then embark on a major July trek with Set Your Goals and Four Year Strong. Future itineraries surrounding the band's Fueled By Ramen debut album will be revealed shortly.
