(PR) The Photo Atlas are gearing up for their sophomore release To Silently Provoke The Ghost (available April 21st everywhere), produced by J. Robbins (Against Me!, Bayside, Jets To Brazil, Murder By Death, Mewithout You). The 5 track E.P. is filled with an array of aggressive indie dance punk beats, sonic styles and tempos, colored by personal and passionate lyrics. They create music naturally and instinctually, and as lead singer Alan Andrews says about the crafting of the E.P., "there was very little discussion when recording, we went into the studio and it was a silent progression. We were all on the same page and we are really looking forward to playing them live to get people moving." The beauty behind The Photo Atlas (Alan Andrews - Vocals/Guitar - Mark Hawkins – Bass - Bill Threlkeld III – Guitar - Nick Miles -Drums) is the brotherhood that encompasses the band. The Denver based quintet has been playing together for 5 years now. It was this relationship that was the adhesive behind the massive sound on To Silently Provoke The Ghost. The Photo Atlas has clearly mastered their live performance. The band's dynamic indie dance rock tracks are coated with vital melodies, explosive guitar riffs and demanding drum beats, which bring a sense of movement to each song. The Photo Atlas has been keeping busy since their previous album release No, Not Me, Never playing 2008 summer festivals such as the Monolith Festival with the Silversun Pickups, Tokyo Police Club and Vampire Weekend as well as the Mile High Festival with Tom Petty, Warped Tour, SXSW, CMJ and most recently they performed at the XGAMES X FEST in Aspen, CO. Immediate hits like "Class of 2012" and "Jealous Teeth" highlight the band's ability to write complicated arrangements that are equally catchy. In songs like "Paper Trail", Alan sings about people he has seen come and go in the Denver scene. One day Denver is the coolest place in the world, and the next day, people are just too cool for it and they move on." The group's music blends the angularity and drive of Fugazi, the gut-punch of At The Drive-In and the infectiousness of Bloc Party all into one explosive little package.
