Fiction Plane Live Release

(PR) Power rock trio Fiction Plane is back! On March 23, the band releases its first-ever live DVD and CD package, simply entitled Paradiso, through XIII Bis Records. Recorded on December 7, 2008 at the band's sold-out performance in Amsterdam at the renowned Paradiso, the threesome of Joe Sumner, Seton Daunt, and Pete Wilhoit were captured in top form. Known for their highly animated and energetic live performances, PARADISO is the purest representation of Fiction Plane outside of an actual live show. PARADISO is offered in three packages. One set consists of a DTS Sound DVD of the show and two CDs featuring the entire audio performance. Special features on the DVD include the unedited version of the "It's A Lie" video (directed by Sumner's brother Jake), and a photo gallery comprised of images taken along the band's touring journey. The DVD will also be available separately, as will a limited edition Blu-Ray disc. The DVD/CD set was mixed by Ash Howes (Kylie Minogue, James Morrison, Eurythmics) and mastered by Andy Walters (U2, The Cure, Radiohead) at Abbey Road. The cover art is once again contributed by Alex Lake, who, in addition for supplying the artwork for Fiction Plane's two previous releases LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN and 2005's BITTER FORCES AND LAME RACE HORSES, has also worked with Keane, Rufus Wainwright, and Amy Winehouse."I've never liked live albums that were faked," says Sumner. "When we play live, it is not a recital of our live recordings. We do everything we can to put on the best show for the crowd every night." XIII Bis CEO Mehdi El Jai concurs, "Thanks to the band and the tremendous audience, we've got here one of those perfect moments, when a band is touching the essence of rock." The tracklisting for the performance includes: 1) Death Machine 2) Presuppose 3) Running the Country 4) It's a Lie 5) Left Side of the Brain 6) Put on Your Shoes 7) Sadr City Blues 8) Drink 9) Anyone 10) Cut the Brake 11) Hate 12) Cross the Line 13) Cigarette 14) Two Sisters PARADISO closes the chapter on two years of rampant Fiction Plane activity, supporting the Bieler Bros. Records release LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAIN, which was also released by XIII Bis in 2008 as a special edition featuring five bonus tracks. In 2007 and early 2008, the band toured around the globe in arenas as the openers for The Police's 30th Anniversary Reunion tour and headlining clubs. Fiction Plane spent last year at nearly every major European festival, and on jaunts with The Feeling and The Bravery, culminating in a massive summer run as part of The Unity Tour with 311 and Snoop Dogg. Many bands treat live DVD releases like a contractual obligation – another piece of product that brings them one step closer to fulfilling their contract. However, Fiction Plane is among those rare artists who go above and beyond, offering something more than a piece of plastic and metal. They treat the live recording like a living document; an event to be relived and remembered. Drummer Wilhoit says of the release, "We hope fans get a sense of how we really are as a band, because we are so much more than an 'album band'. You've got Joe jumping off everything in sight, and Seton playing guitar behind his head. We're seizing the moment in a live show. This is a statement of who we are." PARADISO will initially be distributed to retailers in France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Fans outside those territories will be able to purchase the release through Fiction Plane's official web store (http://www.bandstores.co.uk/shop/fictionplane/index.php) and at the band's live shows. With new performance dates already being confirmed and a new studio album slated for release later this year, the book of Fiction Plane is just beginning!
