(PR) The sixth annual McDowell Mountain Music Festival (MMMF) lineup has been secured for 2009. Performances at the April 24th and 25th event include international and national acts The Flaming Lips, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Matisyahu, Hot Tuna, Railroad Earth, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, Indigenous, Assembly of Dust, and Young Dubliners as well as four local bands from the Phoenix area."We have always focused on bringing a unique mixture of musical acts to the Valley,'" said John Largay, event founder of the MMMF. "This year is no different we have the classic rock, reggae, bluegrass, and local band representation and now we can add The Flaming Lips to our portfolio."
Largay added that during these hard times, the charities need support more than ever and feels grateful for the continued support of the Festival, and hopes to pass that into the community that supports us as well.
Tickets for Arizona's premier non-profit music Festival, are on sale now via Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com). First tier advanced ticket prices range from $40 for general admission to $150 for VIP day passes. A VIP pass includes food, 12 drink coupons, shade, poser deck, couch seating, tables and a VIP concert t-shirt. Ticket pricing will increase beginning March 3. Fans are encouraged to buy now and save as there are only 10,000 tickets allotted for each day and may sell out quickly.
The charitable event is held at the WestWorld Polo Grounds in Scottsdale, hosting 13 bands over two days on the Main Stage and featuring an Artist's Marketplace, Silent Auction, Kids Zone, Drum Circle and Creamy Radio Acoustic Stage. Other attractions include an on-site Beer Garden featuring both domestic and import beers from Coors Banquet brand. A weekend "Hooky Happy Hour" presented by Cruz tequila is also planned, which includes food and drink special with acoustic performances. General admission ticket holders are invited to participate in both on-field events. RV parking and tent camping is also available.
Created, run and promoted by Wespac Construction, Inc, one hundred percent of MMMF proceeds benefit two local family-based charities. Beneficiaries for 2009 include Phoenix Day and Golden Gate Community Center. Last year $130,000 was split between the two charities. For more information, go to www.mmmf.net.
