(BW&BK) Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, has entered a treatment program for an addiction to pain medications. Tyler, 61, has had a ten year history of chronic pain from injuries resulting from life on the road. Dr. Brian McKeon, assistant clinical professor of orthopedics at the Tufts School of Medicine, says that Tyler has suffered from continual orthopedic injuries that have caused him severe pain over the past decade. Experts say that prior substance abuse is a risk factor for prescription drug addiction. Tyler has struggled with heavy drug and alcohol abuse during the band's heyday in the seventies and early eighties. - more on this story
