Dan Black North American Tour And Album Release Coming
12/16/2009
.
After creating a hot and heavy buzz across the internet in late 2008, inking a deal with Universal Records the following year, Dan Black is about to set his sights stateside with the release of ((un)) which features a selection of new tracks only available in the United States in Spring 2010. He also announced some North American Tour Dates Dan Black first entered our radars with his inventive hybrid of hip hop and indie rock, inspired by the well known Notorious B.I.G. classic to create HPNTZ. In no time at all, the hip hop/indie fusion became a viral sensation, eventually prompting a phone call from Biggie Smalls' camp who forbade Black from using the original lyrics from the late hip hop icon - and thus "Symphonies" was born... Enter Grammy Award nominee Kid Cudi, who upon falling in love with "Symphonies" recently collaborated with Dan Black in the studio in New York City for their forthcoming single set for release in early 2010. ((un)) is a richly-detailed record as strikingly innovative and contrasting as it is sonically impressive. A pop record inspired as much by Black's love for the "transcendent, emotional wonder" of acts like Nick Drake and Sigur Ros as it is fueled by his passion for the hip hop production of J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Timbaland. Its songs flit seamlessly from throbbing electro-rhythms to heart-tearing strings, from plaintive acoustic guitar strums to shuddering hip hop beats - these are songs which are sure to breathe life, heart and soul out of your stereos. February 18 - New York, NY @ Mercury Lounge February 19 - Montreal, QC @ Belmont February 20 - Toronto, ON @ WrongBar February 23 - Los Angeles, CA @ Cinespace February 25 - San Francisco, CA @ Popscene / 330 Ritch
