Dangerbird Records is proud to announce that Los Angeles-based quartet Silversun Pickups have been nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy Award. For a fully independent band to win this award is incredibly rare, and less than 10 in the history of the Grammys have been nominated overall. No one is taking this for granted, least of all the band. Lead singer Brian Aubert said, "This was never something in our sights. We have never even had a fantasy about this. It just wasn't on our radar. However, we do feel insanely proud of our label and everyone involved with us. The nod from the Grammys makes us feel real warm inside. We're astonished, excited, and completely humbled by it."
On February 27th, Silversun Pickups begin their much-anticpated North American tour with Muse at Atlanta's Gwinnett Center. Only six dates have been announced so far. Many more dates are about to be confirmed.
The band is currently on tour in Europe supporting Placebo along with doing some headlining shows on days off.. On December 21st, they will appear on The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien to play their current single "Substitution," from their most recent album, Swoon, which so far has yielded the band's second #1 Modern Rock single, "Panic Switch." On January 26, 2010, to begin the show's sweeps period, Silversun Pickups will be the first band to perform on the Jimmy Kimmel Live outdoor stage after its mid-winter hiatus.
