Rihanna Reunites with 6 Year Old Leukemia Patient

12/01/2009
.
Rihanna had an emotional reunion with six-year-old leukemia patient, Jasmina Anema, at a signing for her new album, Rated R at Best Buy in NYC last week. The superstar visited Jasmina who was waiting for a bone marrow transplant at NYU Medical Center on April 2nd.

Rihanna spent three hours with the leukemia patient giving her a princess makeover and manicure bedside. After learning of Jasmina's battle with NK-cell leukemia in February, Rihanna pleaded with the public to register with DKMS Americas the world's largest bone marrow donor center.

Her appeal drew thousands of new donors and resulted in a match for the six-year-old who visited her hero for the first time post-transplant yesterday. Sadly, many children are not as fortunate as Jasmina. Thousands are still waiting for their life-saving donor match (only 3 out of 10 patients will receive a transplant that could save their lives.) Rihanna continues to urge people to sign the registry and give other children, like Jasmina a second chance at life. - DKMS Americas site
