DaBet Hired To Exploit Saba Saba
08/21/2009
.
(Submitted News) DaBet Music Services president and founder Angela Rose White announced today that her company has reached an agreement with hip hop/Lugaflow artist Saba Saba to provide exploitation and collection services. The agreement includes an option for future songs written and produced by Saba Saba. Financial terms were not disclosed. Saba Saba, previously known as Krazy Native, co-founded the Ugandan Hip Hop Foundation and was a founding member of the Ugandan hip hop group, Bataka Squad. He has been performing since 1994 and created the use of Luganda language in hip hop music (Lugaflow). He then established himself as a solo artist in 2005 with the release of his song "Tujja-Babya," earning him nominations at the Africa Music Awards in the Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Song categories. "When we began this music services company at the beginning of the year, we wanted to include high potential 'emerging' and 'world' music artists, and Saba Saba definitely fits in that category," says White, whose new company continues to seek domestic and foreign third-party catalogs with a history of performance in the United States. "Saba Saba is a great example of the type of singer/songwriter we want to represent as a company because of the diverse opportunities we feel his music can generate through multiple media platforms. We also want to work with him to provide new opportunities to collaborate with local artists." In addition to Saba Saba, DaBet Music recently signed agreements with Texas-based urban songwriter/performer Benjamin and Irish singer/songwriter Paul Casey and continue to administer interests in songs performed by such greats The Platters, Ike & Tina Turner, Count Basie, Little Richard, Cher, Cass Elliot, Donnie and Marie Osmond, and Dinah Shore.
