(PR) Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ernie Halter will be releasing a live album, entitled "Ernie Halter: Live," on September 8th. Initially, the album will be available exclusively on iTunes, with CDs available beginning September 20th at Halter's live shows. The album includes eleven tracks recorded on tour in 2009 over the course of a month at a number of locations; a brand new track called "Yes I Am" is the only song that has not appeared in a studio version on one of Halter's past albums. "Ernie Halter: Live" offers a mix of solo acoustic and full band performances, with a stand-out being the solo piano version of fan favorite, "Whisper" (see full track list below).
The album was produced by Ernie Halter and Jason Spiewak and mastered by Matt Chiaravalle. Spiewak and Chiaravalle also mixed the album. "Ernie Halter: Live" features musicians Aaron Bishop, Michael Peters, Dave Yaden, JT Spangler, CC White, and Daniel Crawford.
"Fans had been asking me for a while to release a live record," says Halter. "In the studio, I've always worked hard to make my records sound as live as possible, and this was an opportunity to share true live recordings of a number of my songs. It makes sense to put these songs out there in this format for fans to enjoy. At my live shows, I always thank them and tell them, 'You are my employer, this is my office, and I'm doing this for you.' My fans are the foundation of everything I do."
Halter is a big believer in supporting and involving his fans on many levels: he broadcast his recording sessions for his last album, "Starting Over" (which was on the most recent first-round Grammy ballot in three categories and peaked at #22 on the iTunes rock album chart), in real time online for fan feedback and comments as the work was being done on the record. Halter has also embraced Twitter and is a "suggested user" on the site, where he currently boasts over half a million followers (www.twitter.com/erniehalter). Recently, he has been using Twitter to give away tickets to fans in every city he plays on tour.
Halter continues on the road for the rest of 2009, including upcoming solo tour dates, as well as shows with Tyrone Wells. He wraps up a run of dates with Gareth Asher and labelmate Miggs this week. Halter typically plays well over 100 dates per year, and has recently shared tour time with Kate Voegele, Jay Nash, Sister Hazel, and others. He is also confirmed to perform at Hotel Carolina (www.welcometothehotelcarolina) in September. Halter plans to begin recording a new studio album later this year with plans to release it in 2010.
This summer, he traveled to South Africa for two weeks with MochaClub.org, a charity he's worked with for over a year, and got to see their work first-hand. For the cost of $7 per month, people who donate are helping mothers, women at risk, education, health care, and orphan care in Africa. "I really learned the importance of giving," Halter says of his trip. "You get so much more back in return. I saw so much joy among those who had so little, just because they were alive and healthy. It showed me what was important and what wasn't. And I also learned that we, as individuals, really can make a difference."
