Hockey's Mind Chaos Coming

08/10/2009
.
(EMI) Capitol Records breakthrough dance-rock band Hockey have been making impressive first impressions with music fans, bloggers and mainstream media around the globe with a non-stop touring schedule leading up to the October 6th release of their debut album Mind Chaos.

The Portland, OR based quartet have toured the UK with both Passion Pit and Friendly Fires and played most major festivals around the globe including stops in the U.S. at SXSW, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and will play Chicago's famed Lollapalooza festival today.

"The last few months have been mind-blowing, a year ago we were playing at little clubs in Portland and now we're playing huge festivals around the world with bands that we're fans of," said frontman Ben Grubin. "We opened for Fleet Foxes and The Killers in Norway which is pretty insane."

Spin.com named their Sasquatch performance one of the greatest moments of the festival which took place along the scenic Gorge in Washington state over Memorial Day weekend. Following their Lollapalooza set, the foursome will play gigs in NYC and LA before returning to Europe for more festival dates and their first headline tour through the UK, returning stateside in October to open for Portugal. The Man. The Portugal. The Man tour kicks off Oct. 8th in Madison, WI (full schedule below).

The chorus of media acclaim and buzz around Hockey has been growing steadily as the band continues to build their touring resume and introduce their "soulful and knowingly sarcastic… debauched, joy-inducing floor-fillers" (Arena) to music fans in a live setting. Filter noted, MIND CHAOS is "an album loaded with potential singles...there is something beautiful about this band's onstage chemistry. They have performed on major television shows in the UK Later With Jools Holland and Live From Abbey Road. In the U.S., mtvU has selected Hockey to participate in their "Ahead Of The Curve" initiative, with promo spots running throughout 2009.

Their notable international festival resume now includes: South By Southwest, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, Glastonbury, Hove, Peace and Love, Eurockenees, Solidays, Oxegen, T In The Park and Gurtenfestival, with Leeds (August 28) Reading (August 29) Radar (September 11) and Isle of Wight Festival (September 13) all upcoming.
