UK Prodigy Faryl Coming to US TV

04/23/2009
.
(PR) Faryl, the debut album from 13-year-old classical artist Faryl Smith, recently made history in the UK as the fastest-selling solo classical debut ever, breaking previous records held by Charlotte Church. Now America is poised to fall in love with this young alum of Britain's Got Talent.

Next week, Smith will travel across the pond to celebrate the US release of her album with an April 29 performance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Faryl will be performing her first single, "The River of Light," based on "The Blue Danube" by John Strauss - one of the most popular tunes of all time, set to lyrics for the first time. Smith will also be making a stop in New York for a showcase performance on May 7 at the Kaplan Penthouse. The CD is slated for release on May 5th in the U.S. on Decca.

"This has been amazing...I can't believe everything that's happening and I'm still only 13,"the young singer declared. Faryl continues, "With the world embracing Britain's Got Talent stars like Susan Boyle, it's extremely exciting to be part of that phenomenon and have the opportunity to sing for American audiences."

Faryl - released on March 9th in England -quickly achieved gold status, and surpassed the likes of U2, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson on the charts. The young singer has signed the biggest record deal ever awarded to a young classical artist, by Decca/Universal Music. Her debut album consists of an eclectic mix of 12 stunning tracks ranging from such signature classics as "Amazing Grace," "Ave Maria" and "Somewhere." Faryl sings with precision, emotion and power.
