(antiMusic) We love Bigelf so much here at antiMusic that we're bringing them back for another artist week! Last time we celebrated the U.S. release of their masterpiece 'Hex,' and we are now pleased to tell you that they have topped themselves with their latest release 'Cheat The Gallows.' which is in stores now. To celebrate this new release, we asked Damon and Ace to share with us the stories behind some of their favorite tracks from the CD. Here they are with today's song "Counting Sheep". Damon: Frankensteins monster. I've been keeping this behemoth chained up for quite sometime now, knew it would be the end of me one day. Written around the same time as "Gravest Show On Earth", it's from the same anti-industry gene pool and the maniacal big brother of "Money Machine" and "Burning Bridges". This song is a nightmare come true for me..."Please let us be, free"...no.
Ace: "Counting Sheep" is about controlling one's own destiny, and about a certain kind of mental laziness that seems to be very common in the world these days. It's a lot easier to go along with the masses than follow your calling and take your life in your own hands. A lot of people just end up taking it day by day, drifting through their lives... like mindless sheep. Very heavy lyrical content which hopefully stimulates some thoughts, or even actions. The middle has some pretty unorthodox instruments on it, a lot of experimenting was going on during the recording sessions, and I think it really paid off.
