(antiMusic) What if you were once a "hot" band but now you make an major announcement about your lineup and it takes a few days for the media to pick up on it? That's what happened to Taking Back Sunday this week. They announced a lineup change on Monday and it took a fan emailing us to learn about it. They obviously still have rabid fans, but someone sure dropped the ball in the PR dept on this one. Here is the big news, the band has finally found their new guitarist. You'll remember that Fred Mascherino made a sudden departure from the group last year. And now almost 7 months to the day later, they finally got around to replacing him.
Their new axeman is Matthew Fazzi of the band Facing New York, who had toured with the group in 2006. Here is what the band had to say on their Myspace page about their newest member: He is talented and versed in many musical instruments including guitar and has a pretty sweet voice to boot. He's going to bring his unique talent and style to the mix to compliment and continue to build what we've worked so hard on for the past few years. Thank you so much to our friends who showed up at the Crazy Donkey tonight to welcome him into the band. It was great to start this new chapter in Long Island and the show was a blast. We also got to raise money for the Sean McGrath Fund so thank you for that.
As much as we love the interweb and the videos we are sure are already out there with precise visual and sound quality, we sure hope you come out and see Matt for yourself and enjoy the live show and new tunes soon.
A special thank you goes out to Kayla who went straight from Bamboozle to the Crazy Donkey to wait all night to be the first in line with a great list of questions. She was officially the first person to interview Matt and we will be posting that interview right on this page very soon.
