(antiMusic) This week we have a Day in Rock first as a hip-hop artist gets the spotlight. But Emmanuel Jal is no normal hip-hopper, as you'll soon discover when he tells us the stories behind the songs of his new album "Warchild". Forget the banal bitches, bling and got mine raps you may have come to expect from commercial rap, Emmanuel uses his music to touch upon on real subjects from his incredible journey in life from being a child solider in Africa to the recording studio. His raps were far too real for most record companies, next week we'll find out what they were afraid of when "Warchild" hits stores. But this week will give us a preview of what we can expect from the album. We'll now turn it over to him for today's song: Forced to Sin: This song talks about my best friend Lual who out of hunger and desperation, I was tempted to eat when he died by my side. It's about me leaving home when I was seven, a year later I became a soldier so I thought I'd testify about the point in my life where I felt I was forced to sin to make a living. I wanted it to help and inspire people and put across the point that you should be thankful for whatever you have. This song inspires me most when things are difficult and I start to become unfocused, it reminds me where I came from. As you can see this isn't your everyday hip-hop. Even if you don't like rap you can agree that he has something far more important to say than his contemporaries. You can learn more about Emmanuel's incredible story, preview some tracks from Warchild, find out where to see him live and more at his - Myspace page.
