(antiMusic) Hip-hop fans apparently don't mind paying full price for clips of songs (a.k.a. ringtones). Now they'll be able to judge which ones are really the most "hip," with a big change to the ringtone sales chart data. Here is the official word on it:Nielsen RingScan, a service of The Nielsen Company, has increased its mobile market ringtone data tracking and coverage with the addition of AT&T Mobility's weekly ringtone sales data. Through the expansion, Nielsen RingScan data will now represent ringtone sales of every major US mobile carrier. AT&T, in addition to providing sales data, will also provide weekly ringback sales results for inclusion in Nielsen RingScan's newest report, ringback tracking, scheduled to debut later this year.
"The addition of AT&T to our RingScan tracking service is a significant benefit for our clients and the mobile entertainment industry," said Nielsen RingScan GM Paul Leakas. "Ringtones continue to be the leader of mobile download sales and AT&T represents an important new channel for RingScan's point-of-sale tracking service."
