Iggy Pops Up on New Boss Martians Album

06/17/2008
.
(PR) Seattle rock band The Boss Martians are back with "Pressure in the SODO" in stores on July 22th on MuSick Recordings. The disc is rock and roll at it's most potent with a guest appearance by Iggy Pop on the track "Mars is for Martians" (co-written with front man Evan Foster) featuring a sneering lead vocal from the Godfather of Punk himself.

E-Trade has also taken notice by featuring "Hey Hey Yeah Yeah" in several of their TV commercials currently airing multiple times daily, and one that premiered on Super Bowl Sunday. The Boss Martians have just returned from a successful European tour and multiple dates across the U.S.

Key tracks on the CD include: "No One to No One," "Stiletto (Need Some Action)," "Elsie," and the aforementioned collaboration with Iggy on "Mars Is For Martians." The track is an alphabetical tour through the rock and roll basics, and it's an undisputed highlight of the scalding Pressure In The SODO.

An energized Foster goes toe-to-toe with the rock and roll hero, trading lines, and sounding at once irate and celebratory, urgent and super-cool not at all unlike his legendary collaborator.

It's worth noting that Iggy Pop has been a longtime follower of the band, and considers them something much more that simple carriers of his legacy. Pressure InThe SODO demonstrates why rockers of all vintages appreciate The Boss Martians: the songs are crisply-written and energetically-performed, the sound is in-your-face live, and the whole set drips with attitude and swagger.

Video gamers will also get a taste of Pressure in the SODO. "Don't Wanna See You Again," will be featured in Project Baja by THQ2 and the anthem-like "Hey Hey Yeah Yeah" has been tapped for Don King's Prizefighter by 2K Sports.

The disc showcases Foster's songwriting prowess. Not only did he produce the disc, it was recorded at his home studio. This quartet (which also features drummer Tommy Caviezel; bassist Scott Myrene; organist Nick Contento) is proud of their gritty Pacific Northwest milieu as the title of the set refers to the post-industrial Seattle neighborhood south of the affluent downtown. Washington State wild-man Jack Endino (Nirvana, Hot Hot Heat, GasHuffer) mixed the record and captured all the combative energy of a Boss Martians live set.

The Boss Martians' live shows have earned them legions of fans around the world. During their recent European tour, the band performed at Germany's legendary concert series Rockpalast where they were voted the #1 live performance of the entire 4 day live music event. In May the band embarked on a US tour to introduce material from Pressure In The SODO to stateside fans.

More tour dates will be announced shortly.
