(PR) Bo Bice, American Idol runner-up, will be hosting the 5th Annual Armed Forces Poker Run in Pelham, Alabama on August 2, 2008, benefiting the Readiness & Family Support Organization. The charity ride will start at American Classic Motorcycles and will end back at Pub 261 after a 60 mile loop. The event will take participants on a multiple stop journey where they will draw a card, collect a t-shirt or other prizes in hopes at the end to have the best poker hand in play. Local band Five-O will entertain at the conclusion of the event and Bo Bice will be on-hand for a meet and greet with riders.
"The Readiness & Family Support Organization works hard with our Military Force Members families to give the men & women a bit of home while they are serving our country abroad. I've been over to Afghanistan and Kuwait and know first hand how much it means to the troops when someone takes the time to come to visit, send letters and emails and show support for them. They pay for our freedom everyday and we need to show them all how grateful we are. Please come out and join me and my friends in Pelham, AL on August 2nd for a summer time ride," says Bo Bice.
The Readiness & Family Support Organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our troops and their families. The organization is comprised of volunteer partners established to give back to those who give their all. Through on-going support, the organization has been able to package and ship over 200 care packs to Iraq, Africa, Afghanistan and other parts of the world; where they have prepared and shipped numerous crates of bottled water, "Thank you" cards from school children and Bibles from churches. They continue to meet and assist local units and families throughout the Southeast and United States. Their mission: to promote the welfare and bolster morale of our armed forces personnel, their families and veterans.
