"This is the first recording I've done with my English touring band," Vaughn said. "We had been playing the old songs with a two guitar attack, which I had never done. So now we took all of that power and energy and put it into our own work. All of these guys have been playing with a number of bands over the years and have serious skills."

"Traveller" is a very personal record for Vaughn, and centers around two main themes - love and death - something Vaughn hadn't planned but discovered upon looking back at the finished work. It's also a musically adventurous record for Vaughn, with songs such as the moody seven-minute "Death of the Tiger."

"This album goes through a life time of moods, which is what all of my favorite albums did," he said. "Putting out a collection of similar songs doesn't always satisfy the person taking the journey. There are songs here that harken back to the Tyketto days and stuff that is brand new ground for us. The most important thing is that each time I make another record, the songs get more and more personal. It's dangerous ground opening yourself up like that, but what's the point of making things safe?"
