(PR) Multi-platinum country music star Clay Walker, along with his non-profit charity, Band Against MS recently presented Dr. Michael Levin with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis a check in the amount of $25,000. This gift was presented to assist the center in researching the cause of MS, as well as hopefully finding a cure. "MS is a neurological disease that strikes people in the prime of life and affects approximately 2 million people worldwide," said Dr. Michel Levin. "We don't know its cause, and treatment provides only partial relief. That's why the donation from Band Against MS is so important. Although there is ongoing research about this disease, the cause has been elusive. This donation will allow us to "jump start" some new ideas about what causes MS. In turn, by understanding more about it, we will come closer to inventing new therapies, and hopefully, discovering a cure. We are very grateful for the opportunity this gift affords us."
Clay will also be taping a special episode of the Montel Williams Show on March 12th dedicated to the topic of multiple sclerosis, a condition they share. Clay and his charity, Band Against MS recently donated an autogrpahed Martin LXM Little Martin guitar to his long-time friend's foundation to be auctioned off during Montel's Gala and Celebrity Poker Challenge on March 13th in New York.
